JD Parran’s most recent releases on the Mutable Music label are the collaborative Particle Ensemble and his Window Spirits Solo. His performing on clarinets, saxophones and flutes is legendary. In his hometown, St Louis, he was a founding member of the Black Artist Group (BAG) where he participated in the early artistic statements of Julius Hemphill, Oliver Lake, James Jabbo Ware, Hamiet Bluiett and Baikida Carroll. JD has made many appearances at New York’s Vision Festival, as well as the AACM series and the Interpretations series. He has performed with Edward Kidd Jordan, Reggie Workman, Bill Dixon, Cecil Taylor, Amiri Baraka, Joseph Jarman, Leroy Jenkins, George Lewis, Henry Threadgill, Wadada Leo Smith and Douglas Ewart. Parran is currently performing with his new revolving ensemble, Harlem Reunion as well as recording with Deep Ecology Trio, Jason Robinson, Scott Robinson, Adam Rudolph’s Go Organic Orchestra and Thurman Barker.
